Technology has a strange way of changing the world. From the incredible leaps and bounds of robotics to the small, more everyday changes that we witness around us, these steps forward make the world a much different place than it was before. Just compare the technological landscape that we currently live in to the end of the last century – In such a short time we have gone from a loose connection to full time connectivity around the world. From not knowing the story in full to always having access to a glut of information. From standing alone as an island to being linked to everyone else.
Sounds lofty. But that awe is something that drives me to write.
Hi. My name is Chris Barbosa, and having grown up seeing the change from the old world to the new I am always amazed by how far humanity has come. Ever since seeing a news broadcast live from the International Space Station in 2008, my world view has been one of positivity, of the power technology has to bring us together.
I believe that every technology is a wonderful thing worth noting. Even if we are used to seeing it in our everyday life, isn’t it amazing that something so powerful can be seen as so mundane? It’s wild to me. The power it has to make life better cannot be understated.
Now, you may be wondering “This is all well and good, but why would a technology blog be named after lemons?” Good question. Funny story actually, too. When I was growing up, I would get frustrated when things wouldn’t work as I intended them to. Natural, right? Well, every time it happened my mom would come over with a drink. Usually lemonade, as we had a lemon tree in our garden.
As I grew up, when I got frustrated I would naturally gravitate towards grabbing a drink and taking a moment because of it. Then, with mind refreshed, I would re-approach the issue. It helped a lot. I became a more positive person overall because of it, and so when I was looking for a blog name I wanted to get Lemonade as a homage to my sweet mom.
You can of course see how that could be a problem.
So I grabbed the next best thing. Waited a little before getting started just to be safe about it. And now here we are.
And yes, when life gives you lemons seems to be a fair statement. Welcome to Lemonad.
